DESCRIPTION: 

This product comes in 2oz glass amber dropper bottles and in 1oz and 2oz Nalgene bottles for outdoor use.

All Wellness Warrior products are organic. 

Herbs are certified Kosher by Kosher Certification Services.  Certified organic by the USDA and QAI, Inc., and Oregon Tilth.

In season, this product may be wildcrafted from the Arizona desert.

CONTAINS:  

Love and the organic herb Larrea tridentata (chaparral).  Herb is extracted in 40% alcohol by volume.

COMMON USES:

Chaparral is a well-known desert bush which grows nearly everywhere in the southwestern United States.  Commonly used for digestive problems including cramps and flatulence (gas), urinary tract infections, gall bladder and kidney stones, sexually transmitted diseases, central nervous system issues, chronic skin conditions, arthritis, tuberculosis, chickenpox, parasites, obesity, snakebites, as a blood purifier, and for respiratory complaints such as the common cold, respiratory tract infections, one can see why this incredible herb is so powerful.  Although there are many uses for this herb, it is revered for its potency and should always be used with great caution. 

Never use this herb for more than 2 weeks without an equal amount of rest between use.  In more simple terms, use the herb for up to 2 weeks then take 2 weeks off, use for 2 weeks, then 2 weeks off, etc., if prolonged use is required.  It is Wellness Warrior's recommendation that this herb should be used under the direction of a qualified herbalist and should not be given to children unless directed to do so.

It is also recommended that this herb be used in its simple form (single herb tincture) for acute, specific issues only.  If a more complex or chronic condition exists, Wellness Warrior recommends blended chaparral with other herbs in a formula.  If you have a specific need, please contact us so we may formulate a product for you.

This herb is also applied topically for skin conditions, including snake and insect bites, which is why it is included in our wilderness medicine outdoor first aid kits.  Caution should be used when applying topically as some people may develop a skin rash after topical use.  Discontinue using if a rash develops.

PROPERTIES:

Anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, NDGA (nordihydroguaiaretic acid) an antioxidant, flavonoids, lignans.

HOW TO USE:

Topically - Shake well before use.  Apply with a cloth directly to the skin.  May cause staining.  Discontinue use if rash occurs.

Internal – Shake well before use.  Take 1-2 dropper full up to 4 times each day.  Use for no more than 2 weeks without equal rest (2 weeks) from taking this product.

 

WARNING: 

Contains 40% alcohol by volume. 

If you intend to use this product every day, you must rotate use.  Take daily for not more than 2 weeks, then take a 2 week rest before starting the product again.  Taking daily without breaks could result in damage to your liver.

Keep out of children's reach.  Serious reports of poisoning, acute hepatitis, & kidney & liver damage, including kidney & liver failure when using chaparral, have been reported.  Side effects may include stomach pain, nausea, diarrhea, weight loss, fever, and liver and kidney damage. Use under the direction of a trusted healthcare or herbal provider.

Do not use if you have liver disease.

Do not use if you are nursing or pregnant.

If you are taking medications which interact with the liver, consider using this product in a formula as chaparral interacts with medications which act on the liver.  Some of those medications are acetaminophen (Tylenol and others), amiodarone (Cordarone), carbamazepine (Tegretol), isoniazid (INH), methotrexate (Rheumatrex), methyldopa (Aldomet), fluconazole (Diflucan), itraconazole (Sporanox), erythromycin (Erythrocin, Ilosone, others), phenytoin (Dilantin), lovastatin (Mevacor), pravastatin (Pravachol), simvastatin (Zocor), and many others.
